The Youth and Junior Bands’ Musical Director is Janet Roe who has been working with them since they started. As a multi instrumentalist Janet’s music career started by her playing in and later conducting brass bands. During a teaching career of over 25 years, initially as a brass peripatetic and later as a general music specialist she has been able to indulge her passion for collecting and learning to play new instruments….. but as yet hasn’t been allowed to try the bagpipes!
Currently as well as working with the Aldbourne Band she conducts the Wiltshire Saxophone Choir and is co-director of a community choir. She helped establish the North Wilts Youth Band early in 2018 and was privileged to conduct them at the National Youth Band Championships. She also plays alto and soprano saxophone with a saxophone quartet and tenor saxophone with a big band. She is a composer and arranger and apart from working in music visits local primary schools as a storyteller.
