Success at Wychavon

The Band was delighted to be placed first at the recent Wychavon Entertainment contest. This was in a field of 17 Bands , with Aldbourne playing no 16. This was especially good being the first contest in nearly 2 years and the first led by their M.D. Glyn Williams. There is an excellent write up of this on 4bars rest here. The Band is thrilled with the result and look forward to a busy couple of months of Concerts and rehearsals for the upcoming British Open Contest. Suffice to say every member is smiling as they look forward to January !

We ARE bACK

It is so great to say that we are back playing Concerts as a Band. We had a Pilot August Pond concert which was a great success. Our next couple of Gigs is this weekend Leading the Carnival March on the 4th of September at 18:00 followed by the Carnival Pond on the Green Concert at 18:30 . We have a busy schedule of Concerts building up through September – December so please check out our Events schedule for more information. The Band also is welcoming new members to strengthen our ranks as we work towards the British Open . Their Bios will be published soon in our About our players section. We are so thrilled to be back music making and look forward to once again entertaining you all through our music making lead by our M.D. Glyn Williams.

July pond concert

As previously announced on social media the Band are unable to hold the July Pond Concert in the village as usual due to the current restrictions.

However we will be recording a few pieces and will post them here and on Facebook for you all to enjoy hopefully Sunday evening.

“DABCHICK 5” would donate £5 to the Band. Usual standard messaging costs will be on top of whatever amount you choose.

Death of Jesse Jones

The Band would like to send its deepest condolences to the family of Jesse Jones, the former player, Secretary and President who achieved an amazing 51 years service with the Band.

Back in 2008, when Jesse retired from the Band, the following account of his musical history was published on 4barsrest, and it seems fitting to us all to re-share this link as we remember his dedication.

We look forward to a future concert when we hope to remember Jesse in a musical setting, and pay tribute to his support of the Band he loved.

We also look forward to working with some amazing conductors over the forthcoming months and experience some new musical adventures. We will forever remain though true to our roots of being the Subscription Village Band. You will find us very much at the center of the Village artistic and musical activities… the British Open dates fall this year so we WILL be marching in the carnival 🙂.
