Band receives cheque from Blue Boar Charity Auction

Blue Boar Charity Cheque

The Aldbourne Band is one of the latest recipients of the generosity of the patrons of The Blue Boar pub on the green in the picturesque village of Aldbourne in Wiltshire.

Landlord and landlady Michael and Joanne Hehir regularly close the pub’s restaurant to host charity auctions, and over the last 3 years have raised just over £25,000 which has been split between local community groups and national charities. The self-funding Aldbourne Band recently received a cheque for £1000 which was a result from an evening in October during which one of the items for auction was the conductor’s baton. MD David Johnson had very recently directed the band in their Albert Hall appearance at the National Brass Band Championship finals where the band was placed in a highly creditable 9th position.
Aldbourne Band can next be seen in performance in St. Michael’s Church, Aldbourne on Saturday April 1st. The concert will also feature the young musicians of the Aldbourne Youth and Junior Bands. It will start at 6pm and tickets cost £10 available at the door.
