This evening it was the turn of the percussion section to arrive at rehearsal early for some extra practice on the National Finals test piece “Journey of the Lone Wolf”.

Percussion figures quite heavily in this test piece and is just as important a section as the rest of the band.
David Johnson, our inspirational and over talkative Musical Director, made a commitment to Aldbourne Band. On achieving qualification to the National Finals, he promised to have the bands iconic “Dabchick” emblem tattooed on his body.
After qualifying earlier this year, David was reminded of his promise and re-committed to the tattoo.
6 months later, and we find that David has spent most of the time talking about it, and less time organising it.
The Aldbourne Band asks all its supporters to join the campaign for the now infamous “Dabchick tattoo” to be un-veiled before October 8th.
The weather was kind to us this year and the Pond Concert season managed a full set of concerts outside.
It was particularly lovely to see a record crowd gathered on the Green for the August Proms Concert. Spectacular sunshine was the icing on the cake, making for some great picture postcard shots.
Many thanks to all those who’ve helped out over this season of Pond Concerts, including our Collectors, PA System, Friends of Aldbourne Band and most of all the audience! We look forward to another great season next year.
