After four years at the helm, David Johnson – MD of Aldbourne Band, will be leaving the band to further pursue his playing and family commitments.
During his tenure at Aldbourne, David has taken the Band from mid 1st Section to a competitive Championship Band – winning the 1st Section National Finals in 2011, two consecutive 3rd place Championship finishes at the West of England areas and a 3rd place at the Grand Shield in 2013; just one place off a British Open qualifying appearance.
It has been a fantastic four years for the Band and David will be greatly missed by players and supporters alike. Under David, the Band has the taste for success and are looking forward to working with other conductors to further the Bands’ impressive achievements, however we are sure that the links forged with David will continue into the future.
David’s last engagement with the band as MD will be at the Conducting course on October 15-17th in Aldbourne. This event proved extremely popular last year and there are only a few spaces left for budding conductors to conduct a top flight band on a varied selection of pieces under David’s expert tuition.
